Thank you for your interest in Northern Michigan Fly Fishing guide service!

Hi, my name is Alex Cerveniak and I offer fully guided fly fishing trips on the northern Michigan streams we’ve all heard of such as the South Branch of the Au Sable, and on those we haven’t all heard of such as the [censored].

I grew up a stones-throw from several of northern Michigan’s best trout streams, and take a lot of local pride in what this area has to offer.  I also take a lot of pride in being on the water nearly every day of the season from early April through late-September.  Northern Michigan is the best place in the world to be a fly angler, and I look forward to sharing my passion for the area, the fish, the insects and fly fishing with you.

quoteWhether you’re a rank beginner, or a seasoned veteran, I want you to walk away from our trip a better angler than when we started.  I’ve taught beginners the fundamentals they’ll need to catch fish long after our trip, and helped advanced anglers refine or add new skills to their bag of tricks.  After all, the real value in a guided fly fishing trip is not the fish you catch, rather, its the knowledge and skills you take away from that trip.

That said, I’m not afraid to admit I want you to catch fish, and while I can’t make them all eat, I will work as hard as I can to put you on fish and figure out what they want.

I’ve been a featured speaker for The Great Lakes Council of Federation of Fly Fishers, The Clearwater Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and The Grand River Fly Tyers.  I’ve contributed to or been featured in several publications and media outlets including: The Drake Magazine, Hatches Magazine, MidCurrent, The Flyfish Journal, Fly Rod & Reel, The Gaylord Herald Times, The Gaylord Area Convention & Tourism Bureau, The Schenectady Gazette, The Fiberglass Manifesto, and Fontinalis Rising.

I’m an active Trout Unlimted member, and serve as President of my local chapter.  I am also a member of Anglers of the Au Sable, the Federation of Fly Fishers, Michigan Trappers and Predator Callers, and Backcountry Hunters and Anglers.
